Michigan State Fair Going Literary with Detroit Little Libraries and Local Authors

The State Fair and Detroit Little Libraries have teamed up to bring some literary art to the State Fair in Nov. this Sept. 1-5.  Twenty Little Free Libraries, painted and embellished by artists, will be on display during Labor Day weekend. Fair goers can vote on their favorites at the fair and on Facebook, with winning artists receiving awards of $1,000 to $100!

The little libraries will then be placed at at some of the most high profile and popular Urban Garden locations in Detroit, filled with donated books for adults and children, focusing on Michigan authors.

 

Along with the little libraries, the State Fair is going literary with special Michigan author appearances. Kick off day on Sept. 1, will feature popular young adult book author Jonathon Rand, creator of the Michigan Chillers and American Chillers mystery book series. The rest of the weekend will feature a “Reader’s Round-Up” with a broad slate of talented Michigan authors meeting readers of all ages and signing books.
